Mainstream alternatives for ALDI cycling kit

There's often a lot of buzz about the ALDI cycling kit sales. This makes me wonder what it competes with. With almost perpetual sales there's often bargains to be had. So is ALDI with it really?
Take the £29.99 waterproof jacket, it's probably not much better than a bin liner. There's often decent brands with waterproof jackets at that price or very close in sales. Which is best?
If you look at current ALDI kit, what mainstream alternative would you recommend for similar or a little more money?
I'll start this off with alternatives for the £29.99 waterproof jacket.

Some are a fiver more but I think you get my idea. Also I don't know if these are better or not.

Blimey. 30 quid for the aldi jacket. They've gone up in cost.
Not sure two of your three choices are comparable though.
The aldi one is more of a winter jacket than a packable rain jacket ?0 -
The jacket is still £19.99 not £29.99 ??0

My point being that ALDI kit might not be a bargain.
Which two aren't comparable BTW? They're cheap waterproof jackets that I found with just a couple of minutes browsing. Probably better options.0 -
I just googled aldi cycling and found a thirty quid jacket. Probably closest to the third one in your list.
The stuff I've had from there has been good but nothing more than fifteen quid or so. You'd have to shop well to match that value for a jacket.0 -
Bit buggered unless you are small though, that's the problem with clearance sales, often XXS or XXL left, some of us are humans.I don't do smileys.

My trouble is ALDI cycle clothing just doesn't fit. XL is baggy and short in the arms. Mind you I'm happy spending a bit more to buy right. Think I'll leave ALDI for those who are ok with their limited fit.
I just started this thread to find out if anyone had looked at alternatives to their kit from non-supermarket brands. Do they have competition other than from lidl?0 -
Decathlon clothing is far better in my experience. Also a number of shops are getting into the own brand thing too i.e. Merlin/Evans/probikekit and more. Plus when you compare mid range stuff in the sales to Aldi then it becomes even less good value0

I agree with Decathlon. Their kit for a lot of sports is pretty good value vs some other brands. Free collection in store too!0

I find a lot of kit off sports direct to be good - generally of the muddy fox lineup but has performed well at a reasonable price.0
