Just forget it.
No riding from 10 til 5 in the summer. It's also very busy. If you don't know what to wear you aren't ready.
You can get specific weather reports for the top. It's often sub zero up there and you need to be prepared.
Go and do a quieter route. You'll have more fun.0 -
For clarification
You'll be walking up
and riding down
on the way down, some people will probably fall off and some will get impact punctures
Bearing in mind you can't go up it until 5pm, make sure some people in the group know what they are doing
It will take you about 3 hours to ascend with a bike so the doesnt leave you much spare time to get back down.0 -
I don't know your riding ability but be very careful not to bite off more than you can chew, turn back if you don't think you can ride back down. It gets steeper as you go up so you should be able to judge. You can push up before 5 and ride down after the curfew ends. I wouldn't bother going up with a bike if the weather isn't clear, even if it is make sure you take extra layers and lights just in case. On a sunny day in the summer you could easily be in shorts and tshirt at the top but, as with anything in the hills, it's very changeable so take more than you think you'll need. Today for example it is suggesting it is going to be 6 degrees colder up there than in Llanberis. If you come back down the way you push up it's easy to follow, on a good day you'll be riding past quite a few people even after 5pm to make sure you slow down and say hello, in my experience most people are friendly and quite happy so long as you don't shoot past without warning.
The other option would be to set off very early with torches then ride down before the curfew starts.0 -
Not a day to be out on the mountains. 45mph winds and fog up there. Brrrrrrrr0

I recently walked up the Llanberis Path with the wife. Weather was warm and dry in Llanberis, t-shirt, sun cream, about 18 degree's at 1030am. About three quarters of the way up it was drizzly rain, very low cloud, low temperature (about 6 degrees) and very very windy. Luckily we had a pack with windproof jackets, hats and gloves as definitely needed. I've been up at other times though and it was 20+ degrees at the top. Just be prepared.
Also, it is very busy, I really wouldn't recommend riding it during July. There are other routes close by while not being a big mountain are still good fun. Marin Trail, Pen Machno, Coed-y-Brenin etc. There was a small number of guys breaking the curfew and riding up during a busy period, pointless as they were just getting in everyone's way. I'd hate to be descending down some of the steeper bits when there are kids and dogs running everywhere.
Worth a read if you haven't done so already....

We did a few weeks ago, we set off adjust before 4am in the dark, and got to the top at about 6:30ish. Going up the llanberis path, which isn't too bad to ride 3/4s of the way if your fit enough. We then came down the rangers path. It is an awesome ride out but the summit and llanberis path was still busy so early. The rangers descent we didn't see anyone and it took about an hour back down to llanberis for breakfast.
I made a little video if anyone's interested
