Putting GPX route onto Wahoo Elemnt Bolt
Hello
I am extremely new to GPS and navigation so bear with me. I just bought a Bolt and am trying to put the route for the Ditchling Devil audax on it.
There is a GPX file available on the Audax UK website. I am able to see the file I want in the zipped file but can't open it on my android phone and can't see how to use the Elemnt companion app to grab it either.
The instructions say I should be able to double tap the file and the phone will offer me the option of creating a route. Or something like that.
My phone just says it can't open the file.....
I tried downloading a download manager but although I can get the file, it won't open or link to the Elemnt.
Is anyone able to spell out in simple terms how I should do this please?
Many thanks in advance.

You save the route to your own profile. The Wahoo Element series require Ride with gps or Komoot Tcx files for turn by turn alerts. With both you can import a route from elsewhere but they're generally Gpx files. Open your Komoot/Ride with gps account, import the file and voila, it will appear in the list of routes on the Wahoo Element app. You simply select it in the app and the device will load it.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0

Hi, many thanks for the reply.
I started a Komoot account.
The file I am trying to get is the route for the Ditchling Devil which is on this page:
http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/17-888/
When I click on the link, my phone (Samsung S3) downloads the file. When I tap the file to open it, it doesn't present me any options, just refuses.
Any thoughts?0 -
I know with the garmin I have to connect it to my laptop to do it ?0

Try it on a computer (not a phone).
I've just downloaded it and the file is fine0 -
Thanks for the tip.
I have now downloaded the zip, found the GPX and uploaded it to Komoot and saved it - all on my PC.
Do I now need to link my Komoot account to the Elemnt Companion App? I can see Komoot on the list and when I toggle to 'on' I'm asked to sign in to Komoot. Unfortunately login doesn't happen and as a result I can't give permission to link the accounts.
I'm assuming that this step would let my Element take on the route file that is in Komoot?
Any ideas how I can get the accounts to link?0 -

You're right in that you have to then authorise the Komoot account. It may be that one or the other apps is having a wobble. Have you tried importing the gpx route to Ride with gps? Alternatively, contact Wahoo. I found them quick to respond when the Wahoo cloud went down a while ago preventing uploads.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0 -
All fixed after a phone restart. Routes are uploaded and I'm very happy with the mighty Bolt!!!0
