BMC Roadmachine

Hi

Has anyone got any experience of the BMC Roadmachine?

It appears to be the blend of sportive bike / mudguard applicable year round machine I want. I commute (short though, only about 5 miles), club runs and sportives with the occasional triathlon thrown in. I therefore want something that is capable for all - and can only have one bike unfortunately. I am not a racer but the slightly more aggressive geometry compared to my current bike appeals.

All the reviews are glowing but at £3k for the Ultegra / £2.5k for 105 model trying to work out if worth it. Especially around the weight which seems high compared to competitors. Reviews such as below state the frame to be quite light, so where has all the weight come from?

So any thoughts / experience / knowledge on the build appreciated.

Cheers

I've test ridden one plus a couple of clubmates have them.

Most comfortable bike I've ridden, really plush ride...often regret not buying one. Bikes are more than about weight and groupsets no matter what people say on here - a good frame can make all the difference, that's what you pay for in a BMC...which does mean you won't get the same level groupset as a competitor at the same price.

Best thing to do is test ride a few bikes to compare
  • Cheers - I appreciate that weight isn't the absolute end point. I'm not fat, but could easier still lose a kg or two from me! But good to get some real world feedback.

Saying that, any idea if there is scope for weight loss from your experience (the bike, not me!) - suppose wheels always a place to start if required.

If I'm honest I thought you were asking about the teammachine ;)

The road machine is meant to be more comfortable btw

I was looking to buy the roadmachine for a while as I wanted a disc bike with mudguards, ended up with a domane instead as the BMC mudguards were non standard. You could lose a lot of weight from the wheels definitely, at least half a kilo. Get a wheelset that takes tubeless tyres and you can lose even more
