Hi, any recommendations for a good back pack for using on the bike?

Looking for something to help keep the bag off my back. Only needs to be big enough for laptop, shoes and shirt

Thanks

Currently using an Arpenaz 10 (10l, surprisingly) from Decathlon. Would be big enough for my Surface Pro and a pair of shoes. Incredibly small, lightweight and cheap (I think it cost £2.50).

If I need to carry more I use an Aplkit Gourdon 20 (again, 20l). Cheap, light and completely waterproof in all conditions. Basically it's a roll top dry bag with straps and a couple of side pockets.

    Deuter

It's just a hill. Get over it.

I have a Deuter EXP Air as well. I rarely use it as it's massive for it's storage capacity and it's pretty heavy. Also, the rain cover is a parachute.

I use a Deuter Viper 9 litre. It'll easily fit shirt and underwear and a few bits and bobs. I can also squeeze a laptop in there as well at a push (Lenovo Thinkpad X1) but it's tight.

Waterproofing seems fine although I always keep my clothes in carrier bag anyway due to past wet shirt days at work...

    Deuter or Osprey?

My mistake, it's an Osprey. The label is pretty worn out...

I've recently (6 months) moved from a Deuter to an Opsrey Escapist...absolutely brilliant bit of kit.

Prior to the Deuter I used an Ortlieb pannier. I actually prefer the back-pack.

If you can afford it, get an Osprey. I have two and they're both brilliant - wouldn't buy a pack made by anyone else.

Been through this dilemma, went with a 30ltr Osprey, carry quite a bit, love it. It even takes one of those Eaglecreek m( size small)shirt/clothes carriers for shirt pants socks in the lap top compartment. Great for my commute which includes trains so a change of warm down clothes and jackets that stow in their own pockets (montane fireball for cold, Patagonia for warm/wet), pre prepped breakfasts and lunches, plus inner tubes, lights, levers, mini pump, train and building passes, wallet....and helmet attaches.

I have a Deuter cross air 20 exp.
Superb rucksack with room for a 13 inch laptop plus spare bits.

Also has a trampoline back which keeps your back fairly sweat free.

The built in rain cover is handy, no better/worse than the hump I used before.

Going to try a rack but that is because I have back problems. Yes the rucksack is heavy but it is more comfortable than ones weighing half as much.

Alpkit. I use the 25 litre one, know others that get by with the 20 litre version. Completely waterproof, cheap, sturdy, no need to spend more on anything else.
