Hi.
I'm just ordering a set of handbuilt wheels (archetype s plus + 105 hubs for my 125kg bulk) for my commuter, but the build time is 4 weeks, leaving me wheelless.
I need something that will fill the gap, as the askium one wheel set is dead (snapped 3 spokes & bent the rim on another pothole).
Looking for something off the shelf that will fill the gap, hopefully here mid next week...
Any advice/good deals out there? Clincher, 10spd Shimano, 700c.
(Yes, the answer is n+1 and wait, I know...)

Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Spa Cycles offer a heavy duty wheelset at £150. Not sure if they carry stock or build to order. Might be worth giving them a call

Another option is Parkers of Bolton with their Shimano 2200 hub wheelset at £85 - they claim to have 2 in stock. 32 spoke front and rear and compatible with 7,8,9 and 10 speed cassettes

I'm similar weight, good results with the rose own brand 36 spoke wheelsets, eg -

Or if you just need a rear:

Thanks!
That rear looks spot on, with all gear I probably exceed the max weight, But for £75, that's a cracker.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Yeah, got one last year just before ride London as my Pro lite had popped a spoke and didn't want to risk it letting me down on the big day.
I've now done hundreds of miles on both without issue, so I might have been a little hasty, but still have the rose on my good bike.0 -

Spa normally have wheels ready built in stock, some very strong wheels on offer there0

Thanks all for the recommends. I've rung spa to see what they have in stock, and waiting a call.
Rose can deliver in a weeks time, so spa will be preferable if they ever ring back.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

Well, today, 5452 KM later, and almost to the day, I've been told these are likely unsafe as they are very concave
In that process, I've been through 3 sets of Swisstop Blue's through all weather riding, which includes a large amount of gravel/debris/mud covered roads.Intent on Cycling Commuting on a budget, but keep on breaking/crashing/finding nice stuff to buy.

There are all kinds of wheesets out there for under $250, your LBS should have them in stock if you need it today. Shimano WH-RS11: https://www.amazon.com/Shimano-Rear-Roa ... euniver-20 ; Vuelta ZeroLite Road Pro can be found on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Vuelta-ZeroLite- ... euniver-20 At those prices you can afford to ship them fast. Of course they're not top of the line wheels but you wanted something cheap and fast, so there you go, and you can use these wheels for commuting with and save your good ones when they get built for your weekend riding or longer rides during the week. It's always good to have low valued set of wheels around to bang around on.0
