Half way through and no more hills today.
Nothing to discuss until final 2km?

Reggio Emilia is the town you pass on your way between Bologna and Parma, but, unlike Modena, you don't ever bother stopping there....

Yeah, it's a decent holiday for food (staying in Bologna, that is).

Modena, Parma, Ferrara, all within a 30 min train journey.

Unsurprisingly, had the best lunch I've ever had in Parma, which also happens to be the home of the EU's European Food Safety Authority.

Ha, think there are already too many commentators to make a decent living...

I did however have a lovely holiday around there.

Can recommend it - cheap (given it's north italy), wonderful food, and it's Italy, so there are always interesting and beautiful places to visit.

    Gaviria (No Missile Party) 36.5%

Surprised there wasn't a barrier malfunction taking out half of the field. Still, Movistar would have carried on...

Extremely pants actually. They just evaporated.

Don't think Orica can support this dual sprint/GC team thing.

The Wilier Triestina guy did well.

Jakub Mareczko is going well in his second Giro.
So far all his wins have been far away and not of the highest quality.
At least he's now proving not to be another Andrea Guardini.

I think Thomas may have lost another 35 seconds today.
Clearly suffering. May not make Milan.

Caleb Ewan lost on course somewhere. He needs to be going around in circles.

Yet rides an outstanding TT in a locked position hmm

TT is a chance to demonstrate what you could have done as a marker for future GC tours this year. Would be easy to imagine him getting a big old dose of CBA though on a stage like today's as there's no realistic chance of him troubling the top of the GC standings now.

No picks for Sam Bennett (The Third Party)?

I don't think that's logical. Easy TT and later stage is a better outcome

Depends if you think he's just cruising to the end from now on. Why not just show what you can do on stages where your skills are best demonstrated (e.g. for G it would be TT and climbing in a GC context?) and then just jolly along in the peloton on flat stages?

Big difference between in the saddle for an hour against 5.5 hours.

What happened to the Tyrelicker? Useless again. No more PTP picks for him (watch him win tomorrow now!)

Only just watched the last 15k, how did Thomas lose time?

Is it possible he's lost a bit of confidence fighting for position in the bunch and got caught behind a split?

Or he was cream crackered? Overdid it on the ITT as an adrenaline rush type response to the crash, paid for it yesterday (with pain/stiffness etc from crash thrown in for good measure), a little bit of the same today perhaps? All just guesses really, but a realistic scenario maybe

Shame, wonder where he goes from here, presumably it's a case of get fit to support Froome and then see who Sky have for the Vuelta.
