Hybrid Chooses

Hey folks. New to the forum so thanks for granting me access. I am purchasing a new Hybrid bike in the next couple of weeks. I have had a BRC MTB with road tires for the past 25 years, so bike shopping has been enlightening to say the least. Bikeradar has been extremely helpful but I am at a bit of a cross-road (metaphorically speaking of course) so I am hoping to get some solid advice. Price wise (I live in Ottawa Canada) the two bikes that I have narrowed it down to are: Cannonade Quick 4 and the Trek FX 3. I have ridden both bikes but after 10 minutes, they feel the same. I am planning to use the bike to commute to work (7 kms each way) and use the bike on the weekends for cycle paths and river runs. No plans for a full road trip. Anyone out there have either bike that they have been using for several months and can attest to the confidence of their purchase? Cheers and greetings from Canada.
