Hi.

I'm staying in Wareham for a week later in the year.

Any suggestions for 40/50 mile loops?

I'll check strava for ideas and I see the local council publish a leaflet or two, but I'm after a bit of local knowledge.

Thanks

I spent a few days in Swanage last summer. The Isle of Purbec is a beautiful part of the country. I didn't have any routes in mind, but found some nice roads anyway. From Wareham, I'd recomend heading South towards Lulworth then heading East towards Swanage (for an icecream or chips), then back via Corfe and Studland. There are a lot of hills, but the views are normally worth it. The best climb was coming out of East Lulworth on Whiteways(?), although it is in a military range, so may be closed to trafic.

If it is good weather, the main roads to and from the coast can get very busy. As ever, early morning is the best time.

As Term1te says, the Purbecks are quite hilly, ride to Corfe, Lulworth etc, just check in case the ranges are shut.

Alternatively head northwards to Bere Regis, Milborne St Andrew, Milton Abbas and one or more of the various routes up Bullbarrow, one of the highest points in the county. Depending on how far you want to go you can carry on to Shaftesbury and Zig Zag hill. This is a ride we try to do each year over the Christmas break, though we obviously don't start in Wareham but do go through it!

Previous year I didn't have time for the full route so peeled off early:
