Summer mitts - good padding

I've misplaced my summer mitts and it's now the season for them. I need replacements fast but I can't see them anywhere. Don't know the model neither. They're specialised body geometry ones bought 5 years plus ago. Red and black. The knuckle side is a fine mesh that you wouldn't notice was a mesh until you form a tight knuckle and only on a strip across the knuckles. Gel pads in the usual locations but the one on the inside of my index finger's knuckle extends a little further around the side.

This last detail took me ages to find and really is important. I broke my knuckle there and road vibrations due to rough surface (roads truly bad round here) hurt. I stopped riding for awhile until I found these. It's less of an issue now because I guess my hand has healed better over the years. However it hurt badly today hence I need to find them. Not used them since last autumn.

So anyone know the model of mitts from my description? Alternatively do you know any similar mitt with extra pads extending round the index finger from the inside? Alternatively just a good, well padded mitt if the above options aren't available.

  • Sigma Sport have got the BG mitts, look like the ones you're describing, for some reason I can't post a link.

I've seen those on a few websites but it's not been easy to find one showing clearly the padding. I'd have thought that's kind of important to most purchasers.

Guess I'll have to wait until the weekend and a shop visit to actually try them on. Just so annoying, the perfect mitt for me I had, they're just misplaced or lost. Of course mitts are partly a fashion thing like trainers, the brands like to change them every year to the latest colours. In the process they change the design too. I bet you've had an item of kit that suits you perfectly. Only to replace with a newer version and find it's no longer right.
