Hi people, I'm in the market for a new road bike and like the idea of something aero. I currently have a synapse and find it a bit too upright. I stumbled across the Pinarello above and for the money it looks bang on! I have some Fulcrums I can put on it so the only drawback I can see is the tiagra groupset which might be a step back from my 2014 105..?

Anyone have any experience of the tiagra or indeed the bike? I know I could upgrade the groupset but I won't be able to do that for a little while so any thoughts on how it would run stock would be good. I was previously unaware you could get a bike like this for less than about £4k.

Many thanks

I have 2013 tiagra on my winter bike - and ultegra on my best bike. The tiagra performs well enough - the shifting isn't as fast as the ultegra IMO. However I brought the winter bike used so there are a few variables in there.

If you have the cash id stump up for 105. But if you don't you could always upgrade over time.

thumbs up for pinarello though - great bikes

    How much are you spending?

Gan with 105 is around 2k...I wouldn't consider Tiagra for that sort of bike. Like buying a BMW 314i with cloth seats.

I think it really depends upon how much you intend paying out. I don't know anything about the bike itself but there is nothing whatsoever wrong with the latest version of Tiagra (4700) which works very well. Personally, I would not buy a bike just because it had Pinarello on it - you really need to try it first and I suspect there would be better bikes out there for the same money. You could probably also do something about your position on the Synapse if you really wanted to but you sound like you are just looking for an excuse to buy a new bike (nothing wrong with that!).

It's all opinion but I have to say that a Pinarello F8 (something or the other) that I borrowed in Oman a couple of years ago was possibly the most uncomfortable bike that I have ever ridden whereas my Synapse is the exact opposite.
