Is there much difference?
Is there already a thread on it?

Loads of threads. Do a quick search and grab a large cup of coffee and see the myriad of options - essentially you are opening up a can of snails.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Swisstop / salmon thingys both very good, wiggle cheapy pads not much worse but pick up more rim gubbins. Those are my findings.0

I did do quick search, but no recommendation type threads appeared. Will go deeper down the snail hole...Superstition sets the whole world in flames; philosophy quenches them.

Also.. Shimano R55C4 pads (Dura ace, ultegra, 105) cheap and effective.0

Don't go Swissstop - way over priced and over rated.
Kohl stop are just as good, Clarks are shockingly good for the money, running BBB on another biker bike £9.99 for 4) and work really well.
I won't buy Swissstop again as they are too expensive.
Nothing really wrong with Shimano but they won't set your world on fire. Note that Dura Ace/Ultegra/105 pads are all the same in the same packaging but some retailers market and price them differently.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Coolio. Unfortunately it's CRC for Clarke's and Wiggle for BBB so by the time they arrive we'll all probably be dead from old age.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

So on Wiggle with 12% discount, Swiss stop Flashpro BXP blues are £19-35, but you get 2 pairs.
Shimano dura ace are £7.98, but you get 1 pair, so £15.96.
£3.39 difference over two pairs...
Having used both, personally I'd go with the Swiss stop they are noticeably better, especially in the wet.0 -

In my experience the stock Shimano pads are better than the Swiss-stop although they possibly do have a higher wear rate on your rims - although this is marginal and may be more psychological than anything.FFS! Harden up and grow a pair0 -
I think the stock Shimano are not so good in wet weather. I replaced the Ultegra with Swiss stop Blue (Kool stop salmon are also good) on my winter bike after very little use, but kept them to use on my summer bike. If you are not using the bike in heavy rain, there is not much benefit in changing the stock pads.0

The Swisstops are £19.99 for one pair at Wiggle.
Over twice the price for half the pad.

Or am I missing something?
Is the 12% discount you are saying one of the Wiggle gold/bronze loyalty discounts?Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

That's for the pad PLUS the carrier. If you have carriers (the metal bits the pad slides into ) then you just need the pads
£19.79 for 2 Pairs

Double bargain and very well pointed out.
Count me in for a case of them so I bathe in them as well as use them to stop my errant, out of control, speeding bi-cycle from throwing me off a cliff (if my tubs don't wear out or fall off or if my deep rim wheels don't throw into the path of a passing tank first).Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Might try the Decasda ones, short walk from work. (Does wearing out shoe rubber count in any equation?)Superstition sets the whole world in flames; philosophy quenches them.

A bit like Carbon offset I guess. If you use less rubber in the long run...
Alternatively, breath slower when next on your bike so that it reduces your consumption of O2 and reduces your output of CO2.seanoconn - gruagach craic!0
