Looking for new bike, circa £1500

So i'm thinking about getting a new bike and i'm hoping to get some ideas / inspiration

Current bike is an Allez sport, upgraded to 105, with fulcrum Quattro wheels and a 2nd hand Fizik saddle that i'm trying out.

I'm 6'4, ~13 stone, so looking at the biggest frames i can buy (60/61 cm)
ride 2/3 times a week totally probably 75 miles a week? avg speed ~17/18mph

My budget is in the region of 1500 pounds. I'd like to go lower but i can go higher if needed. So my current thoughts are

Ultimate SL 7 - nice and cheap, and ticks a lot of boxes. Obv i can't sit on one first though.
Ultimate SL 8 Disc - a recent addition to my shortlist - not sure what to think of disc brakes
Orca M30 / SuperSix 105 - don't know much about these two but i hear good things about the 'dale
Tarmac Sport - pushing the price range but i like Specialized, although this is full of cheaper parts (but i could swap them with my current bike)
Tarmac Sport Sagan Suportsport - add another £100 but that looks yummy, and comes with a few extra trinkets

Any thoughts? anything else i might consider?
I'm no weight weenie, but i'd rather a climbers bike than an aero one. Even if there aren't many hills near by

Great on mountain bikes, not needed for a large % of road bike usage

Whereas I'd say amazing on a road bike and I'd never have anything else...

The benefits of good quality hydraulic disc brakes are much more power, more feel, more consistent, less effort to use and not affected by the wet. This really helps if you need to brake hard a lot, are heavier and ride in all weathers.

The downside is they cost more and depending on budget this can make the bike have lower spec components. For me at 6ft7 and 100KG they are really good compared to rim brakes.

Why not look at a Ribble, loads of options to choose from all in your price range. You can get a Hydraulic disc carbon bike bang on your target cash:

But without discs you have even more choice. However if it is a year round, do it all bike then disc is a good way to go. On your nice summer bike not so, if at all. However I have ridden caliper brakes on my race bikes for 30 years in all weather and survived ........ nearly all the time.

100 over your budget but great spec, and stock disc wheels coming in at "only" 1,600'odd grams. Plus R685 brifters. I have one and it's very good....
Also do a 105 version, still disc, at £1475, but the Ultegra version is the better buy I think.

Oh, and I think I would also say I'm now a hydro disc convert after years on rim brakes, even with the extra weight.

Might also be worth adding the Cannondale SS Evo 105 to the list. Comes in under £2k, a lot of bike and a very good spec. Fairly similar to the Allez in terms of stack/reach, as is the Cervelo R2 (which is also worth a look).

That solace is very good value, as are the giants at Paul's..

that Scott does look good. I think i need to get the tape measure out though, as the largest is a 56 and that might be a bit too small

Have you considered this Basso venta?

    https://www.cyclerepublic.com/basso-ven ... e-red.html

They are really good (I own one) and although they don't have your size listed (they have been selling fast), it might be possible they can get you one.

I'm 6'4" and ride a Cube Agree C62 Disc - 60cm (my height is in my legs so the shorter frame of the 60 against the 62 works and I can easily get enough seat pin out to accommodate the height without compromising saddle to bar drop)

Great bike. Superb spec including full 105, hydraulic discs, decent enough Fulcrum wheels etc.

I've got the Tarmac sport and love it, it's not the best equipped bike though. The standard wheels are pretty poor.

specialized can be a bit miserly with the components although the frames are great. They have a number of pro teams to subsidise. although the sales of last years models are often good value.

I'm still yet to make a decision on this. my top two are

Ultimate SL 7. the price really is good, and it's claimed weight is ~ 800g less than the Tarmac, which feels like an awful lot

Tarmac Sport (/Sagan Superstar). I just really like the look of this bike. The spec doesn't really offend as i've got Fulcrum Quattro's and 105 brakes on my current Allez which i can lift and shift across. But do i really want to pay an extra £500 for an extra 800g???

The Canyon Ultimate SL 7 looks great. I would go with that. The 800 grams will not make all that much difference, but the extra £500 is paying for the more famous Specialized brand, racing team sponsorship, and retail outlet.

If you have the £500 you can spend it on shoes, clothing, and accessories.

There is not a lot of difference but if you could get Ultegra rather than 105 components that would be nice.
This, from chain reaction, is reduced but does not come in a big enough size.

This from Planet X has an XL size

If you want the Tarmac then wait as the prices normally drop in June by around 25% last year I got the £2000 Tarmac Comp with Ultegra for £1500 and it really is a great bike.
