How do old bikes die?

In 2000 I bought a Halfords mountain bike. Actually, according to a book at the time it was a "utility bike". I didnt ride it much and a couple of years ago when I started to ride it to work, I realised that I needed something better. A couple of weeks ago I got it out of the lock-up brought it to the house and didnt ride it some more.
Tonight on the way back to the lockup, I realised that it rides horribly and there are no components worth saveng. I still own it though.

That's made my day.
They could go to a recycling project, get done up a bit and shipped overseas to someone who would really appreciate it.
I had some old steel frames, which I was told to dispose of when we moved. So I gave them to a former colleague who cut them up and turned them into art. There's not coming back from that.0 -

Anyway, it is certainly a touchy subject when a bike commits suicide. No further humour will be tolerated ;-)0 -
If you no longer love it, donate it to a charity who can make use of it.
We still have one of the boys' old bikes in the garage that I use to hang inner tubes and cleaning cloths from. Must get round to recycling it...0 -

Post hammer and setting fire to with fire, naturally.
Darn, this sunshine, best bike riding and not dying when using taped on tubs is turning me soft.
Right: best go and shout at someone to make things normal.Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am
