I know nothing about your ability but there's at least one sharp climb towards the end of the ride that people stand to watch because it comes after a long (potentially fast) flat and often catches riders out who don't change gear in time and fall off.
The main timed climb was shorter and easier than I expected.
I wouldn't attempt it but, geared low enough, it's certainly doable if not particularly quick.
In my five attempts I have seen a few single speed riders.... none on the Logierait steep bit so I can't comment on MRS doubts and fears of falling over. I do know they don't like fixies
