Mine have started to go... At the moment Halfords with 10% BC discount looks like the cheapest at about £19???

Why would you do that ? Cheapest may well equate to least durable, and be a false economy.0

Most bearings are just bearings and, provided you can find the generic code, can be ordered most cheaply from a generic bearing supplier at a fraction of the OEM cost. The code is normally marked on a bearing or, I think for the BB30 standard, might even be listed on the standard itself. I bought wheel bearings for my Volagi that way and they were so cheap I bought 2 sets and I bought a well-known bearing brand too.

But expensive bearings could also be a false economy if they are selling you the same thing at inflated prices. Can you prove more expensive bearing do actually last longer ? my experience of buying both types concluded cheap bearings are no worst.
Try these. My current set have been fine for nearly 2 years. So i recommend them

Even cheaper from China. 6806 2RS 30x42x7mm is the size you need.

Thanks all. Bb30 bearings for £1-2ish is exactly what I am after, free delivery too! Good to hear that someone else has had a good experience with them.0

I wouldn't buy no name bearings. For just a few quid more you can get top quality from SKF or NTN.0

Better buy a few cos I bet they'll need replacing in a few months
I will let you know if this is the case (or not). FWIW my last FSA set only lasted a year.0 -

As far as I know, FSA don't make bearings, they just brand them with their name. No idea where they actually get them from.
Far better to buy direct from the biggest and best bearing companies in the world; SKF, etc.
If it's good enough for ship's prop shafts and airplane turbine main bearings then it'll be good enough for your bike.0 -
SKF bearings is the way to go for maximum value. I'm a big fan of Wheels Manufacturing's angular contact BB30/PF30 offerings, although they require a slightly more fiddly setup.0

Pretty sure ou can't buy direct from any bearing manufacturer, only through distributors. I usually buy bearings here: http://simplybearings.co.uk/
FWIW, FSA is the marketing brand name of TH Industries (Tien Hsin), a Taiwanese manufacturing company. I believe they make their own bearings, and lots of other stuff too. Lots of headsets brands are made by TH, and the bearings will be marked TH-837 or similar. Nothing wrong with TH/FSA bearings, but I'd be wary of unbranded bearings.
Undoubtedly SKF, NSK and such are better quality but probably not worth the extra expense in bicycle applications, in my opinion. In my experience, bearings don't wear out through normal use, but fail because of the environment they are operating. Best bet is middle of the price range.0
