Broken pawl

Or, rather, broken pawl spring, sort of.
In my ham fistedness of re greasing my freehub, I managed to trap a pawl while reinstalling. The pawl is ok but it took out the pawl spring at that point. That pawl is now resting on my workstop.
The rest of the pawl spring (it's a complete circle) is in place, the remaining 3 pawls appear unaffacted. Drive pick up seems fine.
So, what damage will I do riding this until I can source a pawl spring?

3 out of 4 is probably good enough till you can get a replacement.
In the days of my youth I once partially dismantled a 5 speed freewheel* but then thought better of it when it became clear it was about to explode like a dropped cuckoo clock. On reassembly I mashed one of the 2 pawl springs rendering it useless. I rode it for years afterwards and it never failed.

Ta. It's all quite intact. Looks like I've just buggered the spring. Are springs (it's the circular type) generally similar?

Sorry, I've never owned / worked on that type of thing and I'm 100% Shimano nowadays. Is it Campag / Fulcrum or Mavic?0

Pro lite. But I think it's similar to some Shimano and novatec. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

Stuck the pawl back in, moved the spring a bit around so it's on all pawls and the 'missing' bit is only on the section between pawls.
Seems fine! I'm not even convinced the spring is broken, it may actually have a few mm missing. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

i have some miche freehub spring whuch are close enough to the novatec freehubs that they should work. the prolite freehub is actually a novatec body type a or b2 depending on the axle diameter you have.http://www.thecycleclinic.co.uk -wheel building and other stuff.0

Looks like you're sorted. Too late to help you on this. However, you can get the whole kaboodle for £30:

Apparently mine is a FH11S, I'd have gone Wiggle otherwise just to have peace of mind and a spare.
Not sure whether the FH11S translates directly to the Novatec but will have a look.My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)
