Campag Khamsin Freehub Play

Few weeks ago the pawl spring broke in my freehub. I've since replaced the spring, but on putting the wheel back together the freehub has developed massive play both in and out, and up and down.

I used this Campag document to help do the work:
https://www.campagnolo.com/media/files/ ... _12_12.pdf

My first thought is that I haven't put it back together correctly. But looking though their document, taking it apart and putting back together again a few times now I can't seem to fix it.

When I remove the axle (as per the link above) I can't actually remove the freehub from the axle. Secondly, the freehub has play on the axle before it is put back on the wheel.

Any ideas?

Should add, the wheels are a year old and have only covered 1500 miles. They sat in my garage unused for most of that year and have barely been out in the rain.

So, I think the bearings should be fine...

Sounds alarming! Was there no such play before you buggeredstripped it down? Did you inspect the bearings when it was apart? Did they feel OK? Do you have any parts left over?

I didn't notice any play....but that's not to say it wasn't there as I didn't notice it all last week till I cleaned the cassette.

I finally managed to get the freehub off the axle and the bearings inside the freehub seem to have a lot of play in them just by touch.

In the process of removing the freehub I also damaged the axle so have ordered a replacement wheel for not much more than a freehub would have cost.
