Cateye Stealth Evo+ cadence on a Giant Defy

Trying to fit the speed/cadence for my Stealth Evo+ on to my Giant Defy 1 disc. Instructions say for the cadence sensor magnet to be within 3 mm of the sensor but I can't get it anywhere that close to the crank arm when the sensor is attached to the frame, closest I can can get is probably 10mm+

Anyone had similar issues?

    Maybe I'll just fit it and see how it goes.....

    Pack the frame mounted cadence magnet out until you achieve the required clearance for the components to function correctly.

    Had considered that, just unsure on how long the magnet would last on the crank but I'll give it a shot...
