Off to the LBS as my new tyre has a pimple like bulge on the sidewalk.

Off on a bike ride and peruse a few roles while waiting to hear if I progress or receive an offer.

You should be riding in the road. Hope the offers come rolling in for you.
Trying to avoid customers this morning, done a few bits and pieces and trying to trawl through the sh!t that landed in my inbox over the weekend. Out for beer and curry tonight with a few colleagues.

Meh. Eye appt. cancelled. Was expecting to see Ophthalmologist and be furnished with more eye stuff and i'm running out. My GP's practice no longer does 'emergency' prescriptions so i'm off there to have a fight and probably get arrested.
Win - win: I get arrested and they'll have to send me a GP or they'll get the book chucked at them.

    Update later.

Morning, typical bank holiday weathers nicer today than over the entire weekend.

Glad its a short week my patience is running thin already, spent a half hour arguing with someone on the phone about some gumph, basically they cant connect to our network from home because their ISP an they want me to fix it. Good luck!

In other non news, new tyres appeared at the weekend, lovely pair of Vittoria Corsa G's picked them up to replace the Pro4's when they wear out an I had a discount code mailed to me so made sense, now I just want to use those instead of the Pro4s despite the fact they have loads of life left in them. Must, be, good...

There's no escape from me as someone has just come back from a 2 week holiday and brought loads of the customary chocolate and unhealthy snacks from where they've been. I had a few just to check though but in my defence I did pedal in this morning.

Normal if slightly shortened 4 day week is underway.

A&E last night and admitted to the TCT ward for Miss MRS. 3 days minimum here - camp bed sleeping for me. Otherwise, all is very good.

We're supposed to be moving house in August - I've never been less bothered about buying a house.

Freudian slip if ever there was one.
Sorry to hear that MRS, sending positive vibes that way for her. Is that the highlands house moving? Staying up there?

She's OK thanks, V68 - temp spike when her neutrophils are effectively zero so mostly precautionary. She's quite upbeat - it's just tough to be stuck in hospital.

Yes - we've agreed the sale of the Highland house (I'll really miss it and the location - would happily retire there) and moving to the Cotswolds for work. The upside of the move will be making car racing much easier and it will be great to be at the one home for the first time in 4 years.

Thought that was probably the cause. They tried to keep me in several times when I had my chemo a few years back if my temperature jumped. Fortunately I could point to the pub at the end of my road from the room in the hospital and told them I was better off there than in a hospital full of sick people.
I should think that will make your life a bit easier when done, not just for racing. Castle Combe be your local circuit?

Yup - if it weren't for the TCT ward, I'd say hospital was the last place she should be. But, with specialist cancer nurses and individual rooms, it's very good.

Yes, Combe is almost literally a stone's throw from where I'm living. It's also the scene of my only crash that was my fault (many years ago) at Quarry (I'm far from alone in crashing there). Thruxton is close too.

I like Castle Combe, done a few track days there in the past. Is Quarry the off camber right hander at the end of the start/finish? I passed a TVR Tuscan race car coming out of that corner once. He was trying to accelerate and I came off the corner carrying significantly more speed. Left him for dead in a Lancia Delta 1.6ie. He couldn't make enough excuses at the end of the session. Great fun.

That's it. My accident actually started at Avon rise - going flat out and hadn't let the car settle properly before braking for Quarry - Quarry arrive very fast by which time I was going backwards. I once read that Quarry accounts for 50% of crashes at British circuits - it's certainly unforgiving. It's a really fun circuit - albeit a bit flatter than I'd like (ironic given Avon).

I've still a few circuits I'd like to race at: Oulton and Croft are about the only two I've not been to. Some configurations of others: Brands GP, Silverstone GP, Snetterton 100 & 200. There's a night race at Brands at the end of the season I might make - never done a night race either. You should try to get along to one of the CSCC races at some point. Packed grids of great cars.

Yeah, that's a nasty corner. Not surprising there are so many accidents there. Good when you get it right but it all happens very quickly on the approach as you say.
Would love to get to a race meeting this year. Made some Mini races last year.

Ooh ow. Those tyre shuffling conundrums.

I swapped my Michelin Pro3's for Vittoria Open Pave's. The Pro3' had plenty of life in them but I was gagging to ride the 27mm Vittorias. I used them all last summer and not a single puncture.
However, i've gone the other way - I just put the Pro3's back on. They roll just that little bit better and despite being 25's, they sit a bit bigger on the rim so are a touch more comfortable.
I'll wear out the Vittoria's on the winter bike. Currently, I have Vittoria CX's on them.

Let me know what you think of the G's, it would be interesting to know.

You mean you had the choice?! Farq me, I had to be in isolation with a lovely view of East Acton and sometimes the floodlights of Crystal Palace.

@MRS - Where in the Cotswolds are you moving to? That was a former stomping ground for me.

Malmesbury/Tetbury kinda area. Currently live (amongst other places) near Gt Somerford in a rented place. Beautiful part of the world. The only downside is just how dirty the roads get in winter (soil type, I guess) - it's the reason I bought the Renegade as the commute was destroying the Foil.

I remember surviving Castle Combe a couple of times, although Avon and Quarry can be quite hairy like you say. Must try to dig out the video footage.

I know Tetbury. I worked as a truck driver for Jewson's out of Tetbury for a short while. Not quite so posh and unwelcoming as the North Wolds - Stow/Bourton area.
Talking of that damn soil, I was at the Hanson's aggregate quarry not far from Evesham on a drizzly day. As I turned in, there was a new patch of tarmac and it was covered in this fine silt. I was doing less than 20mph and started to slide sideways and the truck slid and slid until eventually, I was on the grass. It all happened in slow motion and spooked the heck out of me.
When I got down to the quarry, the guy in the little security hut said I was white as a sheet probably because I had 'some fun at the top'. He'd seen me on CCTV and said I was number x just this week who had done the same. Your truck got a spray wash as you exited and of course all this silt was accumulating on the exit road to the junction.
