Hi all,
Really after your valuable advice regarding my next purchase.
I am trying to get back into mountain biking after a decade off. Still got my old Proflex 757 which i bought new in 1997 and its in perfect condition but i wish to retire the old girl to the display cabinet and get a hardtail again. Used to have a Kona Muni Mula back in 1995 and loved it.
I'm running on a tight budget so only have max of £450, i know its not a great deal but thats how things are. 2nd hand really isnt an option as i live in Ireland now and the 2nd hand market is pretty thin. So, what do you think i should go for, the Kona reduced to £420 http://2016.konaworld.com/mahuna.cfm or the Vitus for £440? http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/ie/en/vitus-bikes-nucleus-275-vr-hardtail-bike-2017/rp-prod147646
Unless anyone has any other ideas for this price? Kind of didnt want to go below the XCR forks and hydraulic brakes if i could help it.
Thanks so much for any help you can offer.

Coming at this based just from various research I have done around this area. The Kona may well have a better frame based on prestige, however, the Vitus is literally purpose built for trails, reviews talk about the excellent geometry and it has a tapered head tube.

Vitus has been bike of the year, scored 5/5, has an awesome component list and an air fork.

There is an even better version of the nucleus with Rockshox Silver fork and better bottom bracket but out f your price range.
  • Thanks for that mate. Helpful words there. As you say the Vitus gets great reviews so may be the safer bet. Been so long since i have been into mountain bikes its hard to figure things out. I suppose other options are out there but the Vitus does shine through.
