GT vs. Cannondale

Hi all,
New to all of this and wanted to get your opinion on which bike would be best - I will mainly use it for commuting but will go offroad a bit too e.g on gravel trails. Narrowed it down to a GT Grade X 2016 or a Cannondale CAADX Ultegra 2016. Budget around £1000. Thanks for your help in advance:
