Hi,
I have been mountain biking for a bit now and I feel my bike needs an upgrade, it is a Specialized Hardrocke disc from 2015 any suggestions on what should be upgraded. I am on a budget but could save up to upgrade the whole groupset if that is what is recommended.
Thanks

Details of the spec would help. But probably the forks would make the most difference.

Followed by most of the other bits.

Depending upon your riding experience and style, you may alternatively want to consider spending your cash on upgrading the rider by going on a skills course.

Even the best riders have bad habits and can learn something from some expert tuition, and it may improve your riding a lot more than new components on the bike.
  • Thanks I will look at rider training courses in my local area.
  • The front fork is a Suntour M3030, it has Tektro Aries mechaniacl Disks and a Shimano 21 speed groupset.

I'd dump thefork first. Those are about the worst possible on the market. Anything will be a dramatic improvement.

But it depends on your budget.

If your budget is high enough you may be better off selling the bike and buying a better, lighter one.
The Hardrock is not the best equipped bike for the money and is heavy.

If you cannot afford a new bike then keep an eye on eBay, pinkbike, etc. as some bargains can be had second-hand.

  • In terms of forks would this be a good one: http://www.wiggle.co.uk/rockshox-30-silver-tk/
I know it is for 27.5" but would something similar do? My budget is around £200 so any other suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks

The Hardrock is all very basic, I'd look for a good used fork.

That said that fork is a reasonable upgrade.

My experience is that the fork makes the most difference - to go from the basic any-old-iron to something lighter and with proper damping turns it into a proper bike
