Best bike for towing with a tagalong

After a bit of advice on the best bike to get for use with a kids tagalong.
Ideally I want a CX / gravel bike as I'll use the bike in winter as well and would want clearance for around 40c tyres.
The tagalong we have fits on to the seat post so looking at aluminium bikes.
Budget is around £600.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
