Im referring to the cheaper models. Are the spokes replaceable? Do they use special nipples and spokes that are hard to obtain?

I've gone through 2 Ksyrium Elite S front wheels. On both the rim went concave and dangerous after around 5000 miles, but they were also slightly out of true. Two different shops told me they are pretty much impossible to true once they are over a year old due to the slightly fiddly and unique design of the spokes and nipples.

Yes, they are replaceable, but you need Mavic spokes, or at least you need to be able to salvage the brass bit that screws onto the spoke and threads into the FORE cup.

Rebuilding one is more difficult, never managed to do a good job of the rear... the front is easy
