Need new saddle - new fixings and seat post too?

Hi
Whilst out today, the fixing between the saddle and my seat post came apart. As I was going downhill at the time by the time I'd stopped and gone back I could find the two metal plates but not the bolt / nut.
I was thinking of getting a new saddle soon anyway, so may as well sort that out now too. What I've no idea about (yeah what a noob, I know!) is whether saddles come with the fixings for a seat post, or whether seat posts are specific to saddles.
My bike is a 2006 Specialised Sirrus Sport, and the seat post / fixing /saddle are the original one.
Any advice much appreciated, thanks.
Rob
P.S. Posted this in beginners rather than workshop, as it seems more appropriate.

the fixing clamp, bolts etc. are part of the seatpost, it's possible a shop might have old bits to hand, but a new post shouldn't cost much and probably less hassle unless you've got a decent lbs nearby
according to... http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/Bike ... rrus+Sport
...the seatpost is 27.2mm, also says it's a suspension post which is less common on a road bike, unless you want to have suspension there's no harm using a normal post
there're different lengths of post, measure the one you've got to see what length to order
an old seatpost can be a struggle to remove, and without a saddle on it you'll have less leverage, if it won't budge try plusgas to help ease it (or acf-50 if you suspect corrosion)my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny0 -
Work out the bolt length and nut size. Then buy each on ebay.0

Thanks, sungod. The post came out easily and confirms as 27.2mm / 350mm long.
So something like this would appear to do the trick?

The DEDA stuff is good quality and very competitively priced. Alternatively you can use brand-x from CRC.0
