Hi all! Fairly new to this, I've recently bought a carrera sulcata 29er, from factory it comes with a 3x8 drivetrain I'm wanting to convert it to 1x11 I understand I'll have to get a new rear wheel to accommodate the new cassette, but my question is, will it fit in my frame? Any advice will be greatly appreciated

You don't need a new rear wheel, MTB 11 speed cassettes are the same width as 8 speed at the hub. Because the largest cog is so large, the manufacturers were able to set it back over the spokes a bit. Naturally, with the same wheel, it will still fit your frame.0

Bit of a waste of money on a new bike....will cost you about £240 minimum - almost as much as your Sulcata cost new.

I'd look at 1x8 with a wide range cassette (chainring and cassette only)
or 1x9 or 1x10 which will be a lot cheaper than 1x11 and used parts are available to make it cheaper still.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -

I'm using a 34T on my Wazoo for 1x8 with an 11-30 cassette, mainly on the road, the 26T and 30T sprockets barely get used (YMMV).
I have one of these as well (with a singlspeed kit and chain), not fitted yet, but can be used with 8-speed according to the blurb, but not strictly speaking a narrow/wide chainring http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CROOSS/on- ... -chainring================
