Just took delivery of a large Antares r1 saddle, looked up the recommended torque setting for it and found that it's supposed to be 18nm. Set my torque wrench to that and chickened out before reaching it - it seems so blooming tight! Anyone else found this? I reckon I've got it to 16nm...

That sounds remarkably high. If nothing else it can't be good for the bolt, surely?

Unless n is different from nm? I saw on the Fizik site it said 18n.

Took it down to ~12NM this morning. Best information I could find about the Giant Vector seat clamp said roughly 7-12NM, Fizik say 18NM so we'll see

I'd do it as lightly as you can without the saddle slipping in the clamp. Anything more is too much.

I was about to say the same as Ben6899.

Mine has 12Nm printed on which seems way OTT. My handlebar clamp is only 5Nm, and seatpost not much more than that.

I have left my saddle at 5 or 6Nm and it seems pretty secure, so I'm not going any higher for now.

Yeah, I think I'll knock it down a bit further before I take it out for a ride and break something...
