Wonder are the main tech guys in early to get the ball rolling? Quite annoyed Im not in yet/if at all as I have been very much a champion of tvoszwift.

And tbh, in terms of hardware owned to use with the tv4 - neither Shane or James have noted use of devices other than the siri remote - questions that I have been answering

As I understand it, yes. They've released it early to the likes of James Gill (from the above site) and Shane Miller to get them to do early looks at it before it goes to semi-public beta.

Yeah, it's designed to not need anything else other than what comes with the AppleTV, - as well as the usual of trainer & bike etc!

Make sense. The ability to expand to keyboards should be pretty much built in/happen by magic. None of the apps I currently use have been made worse by having a keyboard paired, BT headphones worked flawlessly as expected.

It's going to be great, I have no doubt (hard to say when you're moving to tvos off a pc that runs sweet on ultra)

Well quite - if you have an iPhone etc then that'll just work in terms of input and of course the Mobile Link app will work too.

Out of interest why do you want to move from an Ultra capable PC to tVOS? It's a bit of a step down in terms of graphics.

Tidier and more compact setup. The visuals are nice but realistically I'm not looking at the foliage and architecture when riding a workout, I don't freeride that much so the hardware is overkill for the purpose.

I like the social side of zwift, otherwise Trainer Road would be my go-to for training, where again the hardware I have is well beyond requirement

Certainly interested from my point of view.

I currently use BKool - as I got a 12 month sub with my turbo - I do like it from a technical viewpoint (ie I can ride my own courses) - I've tried Zwift but I haven't got any hardware available that will run it properly (unlike Bkool - who have a much lower tech requirement).
Sounds daft - but I run quite happily on an old Macbook Pro - yes it could do with replacing, but finding a grand to replace it is low priority - certainly can't justify it just for zwift - I have a MacMini that would probably run it better - but that's in situ as a media server - I don't really want to move it around just for zwift. The iPads are too old to run zwift too (although they'll run Bkool) and whilst I'd like to replace those - that holds similar priority as the Macbook Pro.
I prefer a semi permament setup for turbo - having to set everything up every time is a PITA...
So, being able to spend £150 on an 4th gen Apple TV and get Zwift would be a sensible option - the Apple TV is quick and easy to move (if required) but cheap enough to be able to dedicate to turbo training ...
Also - if Zwift are doing apple tv app then Bkool may follow ! :)

£8 for a cradle to mount on back of tv/screen, fit and forget.

Pcs on the floor and laptops propped up on stools and orchestra stands is to me bad craic

Every development Zwift has done up until this point has been to get onto devices that people already own. Myself I had to buy a new PC to run it - but that gets used for lots of other things too.

AppleTV is the first development where you can realistically recommend that people go out and buy the hardware needed and have it dedicated just for Zwift.

Are we going to see upwards of 60FPS at Ultra graphics settings from an AppleTV?

Nope. More like 30 with slightly sharper gfx than ios

Which when you consider the £140 price tag compared to a PC which can run Ultra being more like £500, that's amazing.

I don't agree. Not from a '£140 quid burning a hole in my pocket' perspective. Buy a cheap GTX Ti gpu and sling it in pretty much any old pc and it'll give you ultra at 60fps - which is gorgeous!

I appreciate Zwift getting it out to all these devices but imo, I wouldn't be going out to buy an Apple TV because Zwift have developed their app on it. I'd get NowTV smart with a 5 month sky pass for £27 and a Ti card for £80. Great news for those Zwift Wes who happen to own an appleTV box and have been Zwifting on their small phone but not for anyone else.

I wonder if they'd roll it out via PS4 - immense gpu and nearly everyone has one of those :)

That's going from the very large assumption that someone has a PC capable of running Zwift but the only thing they are missing is a graphics card.

I'm sure that applies to some but far from all. e.g. When I started Zwifting the PC I had was from 2006, 32-bit so incapable of running Zwift or handling a graphics card, so it's a long way from any old PC.

AppleTV is (going to be) the best solution for those who are starting with nothing.

Pretty much any old PC - providing it's running 64 bit Windows 7 or above - I can get "any old PC" - but it won't have Win764 bit on - and I don't really want to go out and buy it ... at another £70+ cos by the time I've done that I can get an Apple TV and run it on that without further issues.

I currently use a laptop stuck in the garage ... I also have an apple tv sat doing nothing .... if the apple TV works well I'll certainly stick the ATV in the garage, takes up far less room and I can keep the laptop in the house and put it to more use

Nah not having that. Most people have access to a 64bit OS nowadays. All you need is a decent gpu.

I tested Zwift on my iphone7. If it's that basic in Apple TV too, I'd be disappointed having seen ultra at high Fps. It's so immersive.

I'm quite prepared to take a quality hit in return for a smaller setup. As long as workout mode keeps being as good as it is and my neo doesn't break - It's all about the training vs time and quality thereof for me*

You're being a bit unfair in general regarding hardware, people with hardware good enough to run zwift at any level or indeed those of us who have higher end gaming rigs, simply aren't the target market for Apple TV Zwift. This (in general) is quite a difficult concept to get across.

I disagree though, an awful lot of people don't have decent desktop/laptop hardware - which might go a long way to explaining the uptake of zwift users on ios

I agree on the training aspect. Most of the immersion is in the training element within a group ride or race. I've certainly not flinched about 90 min turbo sessions compared to trainer road. Horses for courses I guess.

No, perhaps in your circles everyone has a decent PC at home, but in general that's not true at all.

This as me interested, I'm currently streaming Zwift from my Desktop PC (i7 + GTX 1070 + 16GB) to my cave via Steam Link and while this works fairly well it's complicated and takes time to get up and running each session. I'd be prepared to take a hit on graphics for simplicity and reliability as long as that hit isn't huge! This is my stumbling block even streamed the graphics are great and very immersive and I just don't know how it's going to be on Apple TV.
