New Bike Advice

Hello I am an intermediate mountain biker that rides in muddy leafy rocky trails and I am looking for new bike to upgrade from my cannondale trail 5. My budget is max $2000 and i am willing to consider to buy direct from manufacture. I do not need a full downhill bike due to there being loads of vary steep uphill sections. I hope you can recommend a bike or a style of bike for me to consider.
