The environmental part of nespresso shouldn't be too bad if you use their recycling service. Either that or recycle yourself. They certainly aren't the "greenest" product out there as they tend to be over-packaged.

I've noticed how little rubbish I generate living on my own. I reckon I put each bin out about once every two or three months.

And yet you suggest to people that their bins should only be emptied once every two weeks and it's like the end of the civilised world as we know it.

Surely you're not supposed to drink cappuccinos after 11am anyway...

This, however I would bring that time down to 9.

Not much use on holiday :P.

Why? Just because you're on holibobs doesn't mean you can turn into a nonce and drink children's drinks instead of proper coffee.

That's the one we have. Very pleased with it. Don't use the milk steamer, been cutting down on milk in general, but when we do we use a Nespresso Aeroccino.

Previously, we've used a series of Nespresso machines but became uncomfortable with the environmental impact of the millions of capsules that are thrown away each day.

For what reason do you not use the milk frother?

I currently have a Nespresso machine and use a Jura milk frother, but fancy giving one of these a go since I like the idea of bean to cup.

Who gets up before 9 on holiday?

Cappucino with a over sweet pastry is about the only acceptable Italian breakfast.

i think some versions of the sage machine have a single boiler which means you can't prepare the milk while making an epsresso. then you have to wait for the machine to reconfigure it self for milk duties.
    it just takes longer

And miss morning passagiata, drinking coffee in the early light (well. 8 o'clock) whilst watching office girls girls go to work and eating custard horns while drinking double espresso before heading to 10 o'clock gelati?

    ARE YOU MAD?

Feel like I may be out of my depth here  I use a standard cafetiere and get fresh coffee in the post from Welsh Coffee Co. Pretty happy with that, fits my budget & tastes good

That's quite impressive! Do you make an effort to minimise rubbish or is it natural?

Probably agreeing to your wife's plans for the day.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Had a DeLonghi Magnifica bean to cup with milk frother and currently own DeLonghi Prima Donna. Both excellent. I find mokka pots make the brew a bit strong for my liking. Cafe tier's are cheap as anything and make a good brew if you use good coffee. I use a second one to manually froth the warm milk for cappuccinos - cost about 20 quid plus beans and almost as good as my bean to cup machine.

I've got a DeLonghi Magnifica too. It's been used every day for 2 1/2 years and never missed a beat. I'm no coffee connoisseur but I can't drink instant and found pods too sweet, too expensive, and not great tasting.

Yes it's all getting a bit reminiscent of wine taster Jilly Goolden who used to eulogise about getting hints of saddle soap, badger smega in the mouth and aromas of Ford Escort fumes on the bouquet . At the end of the day it's coffee, just make it the way you like it.

A bit of both I guess. Unnecessary packaging irritates me but I guess a lot of what I eat (left to my own devices) doesn't have much packaging. Breakfast, for instance, is porridge from a bag, with banana and 50:50 milk water and a cup of tea. That doesn't generate much rubbish a month and, if I had a compost heap, it would be only 4 plastic bottles and a plastic bag or two.
