Hi all,

I'm after a new set of wheels for my Kona Esatto D. There current set are okay, but it'd be nice to swap them for something a bit lighter. Where I'm struggling is to find something with a 15mm front thru axel. I believe Mavic Aksium Discs are compatible, but haven't found much else in this price range. Any thoughts?

Why do you want to "upgrade" to a budget wheelset, what kind of upgrade is that?

    Aksium are OK

are you sure they are 15mm?

12mm is more prevalent for road disc

15mm seemed to be the most common up until last year.

    Yep, definitely 15mm

I popped my front wheel (+disc +tyre) on the kitchen scale and it came out at 1549g, some I'm hoping to heave a bit off that.

It's also my wet weather bike so doesn't get loads of use. Doesn't seem to warrant spending £100s on.

Thanks for the superstar components link, there's a few things on sale here so will mull it over. Any other options?
