Welcome to the 2017 edition of Gent-Wevelgem in Flanders Fields (to give it its full name). 249km from Deinze to Wevelgem, with 11 ascents along the way. The riders will crest the Kemmelberg for the final time with 34km to the finish line- this is where Sagan, Vanmarcke and Cancellara attacked last year to join up with Kuznetsov who was in the break. Sagan outsprinted them all to win- this was his first win in the Rainbow jersey.

Last year also saw the race overshadowed by tragedy as Antoine Demoitié collided with a race motorcycle following a crash, and subsequently passed away in hospital later that evening. He was 25.
