Hi,
I'm trying to organise a solo trip to the Pyrenees for a weeks cycling. I will be flying from Heathrow to Toulouse as its the cheapest route but after that I need some idea's of where to base myself for a week as I don't want to hire a car.
Flybe have a Southampton - Perpignan servics which would have been ideal but they can't guarantee space for bikes in the hold.
Toulouse is the next easiest to get to but where to head to....
Thanks
John

I'm probably not going to help you, but we went to the Pyrenees last summer and had the options of flying into Toulouse or Biarritz and hiring a car to drive to either Argeles Gazost or Luz St Sauveur as our base.
Car or van hire was pretty cheap from Toulouse, but in the end it was more cost effective to fly to Biarritz from Stansted, hire a van at the airport and drive to Argeles for our stay.
So, yeah, I reckon hiring a car or van would be your best bet, although you state you don't want to.

You can fly to Tarbes/Lourdes airport from London (with RyanAir).
Then, base yourself in Argeles Gazost (30min from the airport), best town in the Pyrenees for cycling (surrounded by Tourmalet, Aubisque, Hautacam, Luz Ardiden...)
