I have a newish frame with Di2 cabling in place and the chance to buy an older Dura Ace groupset at a good price. It appears that older Dura Ace Di2 components are not compatible with newer cabling. Is there a way to connect 7970 components to the newer cabling. The older connection plugs are bigger 4 pin connections a opposed to the smaller newer version with 2 pins. I can't seem to find any adaptors. So, is there a way around this?

Thanks

Nope. The old system is completely different to the new one. 7970 is a simple switched system (hence the need for four connections). 9070 uses a computerised signal called CAN-BUS, so can get away with fewer connections and hence smaller wires. You could conceivably butcher 7970 wiring to use with 9070, but never the other way around as there just aren't enough wires in the cables.
