As the title says, I've held off on buying any bib shorts/tights due to this concern, now it's getting warmer I might get some bib shorts. Do they just push out the way or do you have to take off your jersey, base layer etc. to get the straps off/.

They pull down out of the way.

Try it while riding - a useful skill if you in a hurry.

Have you not seen any Tour de France ? They can go as they ride. And the braces go over your base layer.

    Very simple operation.

If you need a pee you're drinking too much. Just pee in your shorts.

But be very careful of getting the end caught in the chain, cos that will probably hurt and you might even fall off :P

That's why you should always tuck it into your left sock, never the right one.

Is that after passing it over the right shoulder, or should one just coil it up a bit before putting it in the left sock?

    Definitely don't do this.

Some shorts are easier for natural breaks than others.

Sometimes you can just pull the shorts down at the front.

Others you need to basically half take off.

A consideration for when buying them.

Does anyone know if dhb Aeron are of the variety that easily pull down?
  • I do it the other way, roll/pull up the left leg of my shorts (I dress to the left) let Little Dave dangle out and then go

I don't find i often need to go once out riding, which is unusual as i have the bladder the size of a dormouse's generally

its dependant on the fit, rather than the make, some do have a small zip on the front, Mavic for example.

But your worrying about nothing, they are Lycra and will stretch down for a pee, more important is making sure the pad is in the right place for how you sit on the bike.?

    Assume your a guy?

Yes. I have them and have no problems. Can't remember problems with any shorts.

Some women's shorts have a detachable strap on the bib but then going in a hurry is never easy for women I suspect!

simple, ladies dont p*ss in public 8)

drop tail bibs or front hookup bibs maybe offer technical solutions to preserve some modesty if required, but they are usually a right faff to fix back up again, often requiring the kind of flexibility of a ballerina or gymnast, not a middle aged cyclist who has been sat on a bike for a few hours.

Wiggle sell bib shorts with a halter neck that you can pull the back down on. There's a demo video, animated :( , of the shorts in action on the site too.
