Giant TCR vs Trek Emonda vs ...

Hello,
my budget is around £1400. I thought about carbon bike, rim brakes with some sporty geometry.
Now I would buy Giant TCR Advanced 2 or Trek Emonda SL5, both on Shimano 105.
Giant has aluminum steere tube. Does that make a difference? Is the Trek much better ?
It isn't worth to upgrade to Ultegra for £300 or more, is it?
What else new bikes worth to consider?
