So,
I have deep section running 11/28 on the back and 52/36 on the front.
I have non deep section which is call my windy / climbing wheels which have 11/32 cassette (new cassette coming today).
However, I am wondering if I can accom both cassettes on one chainset / chain / rear mech rather than buying a long cage and new chain.
I ask as when I bought my bike, the chainset was 53/39 with short cage mech and chain. Stripped it and sold it as not required. But I have been running 50/34 and did not shorten the chain, the shop advised to just adjust mech and to be fair to them it has worked a treat and saved time / labour costs.
So when I put my 52/36 on and 11/32 combo does anyone think I can use this without spending more given the length of the chain already ?
The 11/32 set up literally going to be a set I put on when I tackle some of my bigger local climbs, Haytor / Dartmoor and so on and the 11/28 will be used 60% of the time.
Many thanks.
Pete.

I don't see why it would be an issue unless you want to cross the chain and run 52-32 ... then your mech might complain.
but at using the 32t on the 36 is not different to using the 52and 160 -

That is what I kind of worked out and to be honest. Climbing Haytor is small ring to middle portion of the block up to lowest gears than freewheel down so I think it is doable though never been sure if the GS mech is about the chain length or the cassette size at 32.0 -

I know my Defy has the same gear range as yours but comes with longer rear mech, not sure if it's classed as medium or long but certainly not short series. Personally I'd put matching cassettes on and change the rear mech just for ease when changing wheelsets.
I hear you though suddenly x 2 cassettes, a mech and what not post brexit is £150 !0
