Garmin 520 has decided to be annoying

My Garmin has stopped syncing with garmin connect and I'm hoping one of the many people smarter than me on here may shed light on it!

It was fine up until today. While riding I was getting gear ratio info from etap on the garmin so Bluetooth was fine. I've unpaired and paired the device to my phone and forgotten device on my phone, and the phone and garmin find eachother fine via Bluetooth. But while on garmin connect it says that the 520 isn't connected.

Anyone got any ideas? Am I missing something obvious?

    Try a hard reset.

I just turned the garmin on a was about to take your advice when I got a message on the screen saying the phone had been connected. Really odd. I've been turning it on and off sporadically all afternoon trying things and seeing if anything had changed...

Oh well all's well that ends well I guess. Thanks for the tip anyhow, much appreciated.

Happened on my old 510, so connected the unit to my laptop and opened up Garmin Express and updated the software which seemed to work.

When was the last time you updated the software on the head unit?

Don't do it! Every Garmin update on every Garmin device has screwed things up. I've become a dab hand at rolling back the firmware and have the site with all the old versions bookmarked. Factory reset usually solves things

My 520 updated before a ride last weekend. Sure enough, halfway through the ride it decided to drop GPS signal... Came to a stop and the signal came back. Started riding and it went again....Turned it off and then back on and hey presto, problem solved.

    Annoying

Not had a problem with the 200 previously. Nor the 520 and touring I have at moment, in fact the touring had some annoying bugs fixed by updates.

    Hi Jesse

It sorted itself out in the end but it's still a mystery what the original problem was caused by. I think it was a garmin connect issue. For what it's worth I think the last update was around a week beforehand. It seems others have problems with updates but I haven't in the past.

The first sync after a software update always takes significantly longer (especially if you have a large number of activities on the device) - could that be a factor?

I had problems getting my Edge25 to sync a few weeks back. I had to turn my phone off and on to get it to sync. |I plugged my Garmin into my laptop last week and did a software update, and it seems to sync much better now.
