I have £1000 to spend trough cycle to work however I'm limited to either Halfords or Tredz

I'm looking for a 27.5 hardtail but I'm more of a roadie so not up to speed with the MTB spec levels etc

selection to choose from below

http://www.tredz.co.uk/hardtail-mountai ... e/900-1000

I was all set on the Ragley Marley but its sold out in my size and wont be back in stock (5'10 so 17" / medium frame)

there is a secialised reduced to 100o but its a plus size and not too sure if they are just a fad, I'll be doing a mix of gravel track and off road

aslo quite like the look of the obrea but cant find any reviews on it

any help appreciated!!!!

Have a look at Halfords. Boardman or Voodoo.

Or a Trott. Assuming you have no issues wth your masculinity.
    I don't do smileys.

There is no secret ingredient - Kung Fu Panda

I've had real issues with halfords in the past and boardman bikes so trying to avoid them if I can

All depends on what you want to ride? for XC there is loads of choice on Tredz, if you want an alternative to Ragley Marley check out this one:

Never ridden it but it looks slack and long so should be fun downhill.
  • I would recommend the voodoo bizango. Good spec and amazing reviews. It wins. Ike raiders hardtail of the year 3 years running and it is about £400 cheaper than all the others they tested. If you've had problems with Halfords then order the bike to your house and get a local trusted bike shop to build it or do it yourself.

Or alternatively if you would consider a full suspension bike the bossnut from go outdoors is also highly rated and I'm sure the cycle to work scheme works there

You may not realise there are many different schemes each with their own outlets, the OP clearly states which he has access to.
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

From Tredz, the DB Myers is a good bet for an all round hardtail:

Sektor Gold RL is a great fork at this cash, a dropper post is specced as standard. 2x10 shifting might seem a bit old school now at this cash, but SRAM X9 still performs very well. Geometry is a touch steep for a 140mm hardtail, and a little short - more like a trail bike from 5 years ago than todays long and slack sleds, but that might just suit you fine.
