Wanted a Rourke Frame for about 10 years. Can afford it if I strip a nearly new Tarmac Comp SL4 I have in the garage and sell the frame. The Chainset and finishing kit would all also be sold as Specialized kit on a Rourke just wont work! Everything else would transfer over (Ultegra GS/Fulcrum Wheels etc)

Not sure what id get for the frame and Praxis chainset but it must significantly contribute to the cost of a Rourke which would be about £1200.

The Tarmac is a great bike but must admit compared to my much cheaper Equilibrium (running 32mm Tubless) I do feel a bit beat up when riding it. Keep thinking the Rourke would be a good compromise between fit, comfort and ride and may be more what I need/want?

It sounds like you're not entirely happy with the Specialised so strip it and sell, buy something else.

You're not going to ride it so it's just going to it there gathering dust.

If you regret it that badly just get another - it's not like it's a one off hand made thing.

I am not sure what you are trying to do, but unless you want to become a long distance Audaxer, my gut feeling is that your Specialized will serve you better than a 1200 pounds custom frame, for which you probably have to wait one year (and in the meantime your SL4 will further lose value). Lighter, stiffer, faster etc...

That said, if you want to get into 400, 600 km rides and so on, then a custom made frameset could be an asset... for a 50 mile sunday ride is probably just a liability

But he doesn't like it. Isn't that the crux of the matter?
