Hi all,

Looking to move away from my SPD MTD pedals I have on my road bikes & as my shoes are shot as well i'm thinking of buying these shoes, at £40 they seem quite reasonable:

But what pedals to buy that will fit them?

Liking the value of these, especially as I have to buy 2 sets but will they fit?

I did once fathom this all out but that was a long time ago!!

Cheers,

Russ

Lol, feel like i'm talking to myself!!!

Shoes were such a good price at £50 I bought the last pair before someone else did & a work colleague said to get these pedals:

So got 2 pairs of them as well & still got the £10 off!

Those shoes/pedals should be fine. In fact any road or tri shoe/pedal combination should be fine as the cleat is the interface between the two.

Only (slight) word of caution would be ordering shoes online without trying them on. Some cycling shoes can come up small or narrow, even when ordering a size larger than you normally wear (eg Shimano - where I order a size larger and wide fit, despite the fact my feet are on the narrow side of normal). My recollection of Mavic shoes going back a few years was that they were a bit narrow across the toes - but this may have changed since.

These shoes will work with the 2 main pedal types. You have to make sure you get the right cleats which attach to sole of the shoe via the 3 bolt holes.

Look Keos will need Look cleats whilst Shimano pedals will require the SPD-SL cleats.

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/look ... -prod23668 Note that there are different levels of float available in the Look cleats. Black, Grey and Red all have different amounts of float.

http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shim ... prod124975 I think the Shimano cleats also have different float. I use Look so not so familiar with Shimano.

However I would strongly recommend going to a shop to buy your shoes. They all have different fits and spending a few hours cycling with ill fitting shoes is not pleasant.

+1 on Mavics coming up small. French people clearly have different feet.

They don't even have feet! They call them pieds or something. Crazy.

Could be perfect then as normally i'm shoes size 11, on my last 2 pairs of bike shoes i've had to have 12's so these might be bang on.
