No, not sports journalist of the year as that category doesn't exist, as your image shows Lawton wins 'Sports News Reporter', Paul Hayward from the Telegraph wins 'Sports Writer of the Year'.

That's for the clarification. No mention of Syed, perhaps his blackbox thinking doesn't extend to winnng awards?

Lawton is rapidly turning the Sports News Reporter category into a case for the Monopolies Commission. He led the field, day after day after day, with a series of exclusives on the Team Sky cycling scandal.

His exposure of the cover-up of the jiffy bag delivered to Bradley Wiggins and relentless pursuit of the story thereafter amounted to a scoop in the finest tradition of the word. We really ought to have given him a yellow jersey.

Its funny how things are viewed isn't it?

Any journalist that had a look through the posts in the clinic would have had the scoop on that story!

Funny that as 20 years former Chief Football Correspondent for the DM he hasn't been all over the 2 recent (PROVEN) anti-doping violations in the EPL. In fact barely a whimper. Considering it was the same violation that he and the Mail heavily castigated Armistead for, I would have though it was right up his alley.
Still, those free seats must come in handy :D

An even better (and arguably easier, given it leads the list of sports in terms of number of UKAD ADRVs) place to start would be Rugby Union. Hammer home the testing stats vs. the number of players / games, what are the testing whereabouts rules? etc. Look at the growth in the size of players and what this is meaning in terms of injuries etc.
There's a real public interest piece in this as the use of substances is being pushed further down the league and age group structures.

Former? What are you talking about?

Are you attempting to draw a link between two journalist seperated by several years?

Why is football always your fallback when cycling gets called out on being dodgy by award winning journalists?

err, something to do with said journalists refusing to go through the part open door and truly exposing what goes on in the likes of football?
However, do that, and they will not get to watch any matches for free as they do now.
I thought you claimed to be good at joining dots.

I didn't see you calling out any cyclists who were actually cheating over the weekend.
Nothing dodgy looking, or fishy smelling, but caught on camera, breaking the rules.
Yet you have no thoughts or opinion.
I guess that means The Mail must have missed it.

    Do you refer to rule 1.2.064?;
"It is strictly prohibited to use sidewalks/pavements, paths or cycle paths alongside the roadway that do not form part of the course. Non-respect of this requirement is sanctioned an accordance with Article 12.1.040.14bis, without prejudice to any other sanctions that may apply.”

The key point being "do not form part of the course", the interpretation from the race jury may have been; 'no unfair advantage was gained' and 'the pavement formed part of the course'.

Even if found guilty the punishment is a fine and only disqualification in the most extreme case.

You really don't know much about cycling as you claim Mr. Saddles.
  • Saddles? Saddles? Where did you go? Do you plan on reponding to my post? Or are you doing a Freeman on me? 8)

No he's the same Journalist, and there's an obvious reason I've brought up Football in relation to your hero - but you know that.
