Using smart phone with Wahoo Tickr HRM and headset.

I ride daily on trails for exercise. I always use a Sigma HRM and also a Plantronics BackBeat Bluetooth headset connected to my phone.
I'd like to "up" my technology and exercise tracking a bit, so I'm planning on switching over to a Wahoo Tickr and a Garmin Vivofit 2. The Wahoo Tickr will send HR to the Vivofit 2 via ANT+, and it will also send HR to my phone via Bluetooth. However, I still want to listen to music, so I want the phone will send audio to the BackBeat headset at the same time.
It's my understanding of Bluetooth starting with BT 4.1, that the phone should be able to do multiple Bluetooth connections as long as they are on different "profiles".
Is anyone here doing it like this? I've seen some mention of people doing it on iPhones, but I'm on an Android.
