2012 Synapse - is this a decent deal?

Guys and gals,
I have been offered a 2012 Synapse for £280.
It has £60-£80 worth of PDW mudguards that I don't overly need, and is kitted out predominatly with Shimano 105 5700 10 Speed.
This owner is the second owner, he bought the bike from someone who bought it and used it twice, and he himself has used it he reckons for 200km - he has had an injury which has prevented him cycling for a year, and now has a disc brake bike, and only wants one bike - for some weird reason!
I have an alloy one with discs as a winter bike, and a carbon one as summer bike, and am currently using a too big Felt F70 as my turbo bike, so was considering buying this, mostly for the turbo, and selling the Felt.
With the mudguards, it would also make a good bike to stick in the car for when we go on holiday abroad, you know, whip the front wheel off, and not worry too much about damage, or issues with disc brake levers getting accidentally pulled.
So decent deal?
What is holding me back at the mo, is that a brand new Caad 8, all be it with Claris 8 spd, can be had for £340, and I can likely land a 2017 Synapse Tiagra 9 spd model through cycle to work for £480ish.
Just to add, the reason I like the Synapse so much, is it seems to fit my proprtions very well, and still be an aggressive ride - I have a long inseam, and short torso.

Any pics? I'd take it over the more recent ones as 10 speed makes changing stuff a bit easier. My blog: http://www.roubaixcycling.cc (kit reviews and other musings)

5 year old alu bike with 10 speed 105 for £280. Not great, not awful.
(And if you're getting a 2017 bike with Tiagra it should be 10 speed. I thought new Tiagra was like old 105)0 -
Here we go:
I have a feeling it is kind of 'on the money' as apparently it is in as new condition, so even though it is 5 years old, it seemingly has not been abused, or covered lots of miles.
This was the new one I had in mind, and it qoutes it as a 2 X 9.

Do you need it?
It looks in good condition, but I would say it is a bit expensive for the age of the bike. Personally I would pay £250 max.x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x

I probably do not need it, but I just thought I am now getting into Trainer Road big time, and it would seem to make more sense to ride on the same bike, if you know what I mean.
On this bike I could start dropping the stem down the stack, and get my body used to that position\see if it can accommodate it, and if so then replicate this on the others.
Not even sure what I would get for the 9 spd 105 56cm 2005 Felt - £150 perhaps, or is that too much for a 12 year old bike, all be it one that was £900 new, and I think looks rather gorgeous.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

Rule of thumb : 50% off for second hand, then 10% reduction each year.
If that was £750 new, then £375 for S/H, then 5 years give a multiplier of 0.9^5 = £221.
Mudguards worth at least £30, as >£90 new.Location: ciderspace0 -

Nice calculator there, thanks Dr L.

I've just googled and that bike in 2012 was actually £1100.
So if I apply your method above, that would give us £550, as a starting point, and apply the 0.9 for 5 years, it comes out at £325, so I am feeling more and more positive towards it.
It even has the little plastic protective cover still on the rear derailleur :shock:Felt F70 05 (Turbo)
