I am the Professor of Heart Transplants at Herts and Essex hospital, Hertfordshire and so know what I'm talking about.

I am utterly convinced that there is a scandal about to rock the foundations of health service provision in the UK. The convergence doctors and nurses - and their sordid and squalid personal lives - means that Holby City and Casualty will be merged in to one documentary rather than two.

    As a surgeon myself I am all too familiar with making unnecessary cuts. The last whining member of public who had the nerve to criticise my skills had his nose put out of joint when he realised he didn't have a leg to stand on !
    I removed both legs at the knee just to balance him up , he was left feeling very low.
    However next time he comes into my ear nose and throat surgery complaining about ear canal issues I will suggest he comes before 1pm . As afterwards I'm usually pissed.
