Someone said it was "vile less". Really? When I still had some roots in Liverpool i used to visit and even lived there for awhile. Got to know the locals and you know what, a lot of people claimed to have friends and even close friends who were there or died there.
It was only a few years after the event and the Hillsborough group fighting for justice was in the local rag. I was in the paper shop and a bunch of locals all said similar phrases. I took it as a lie too thinking the way they talked it was kind of a status symbol in Liverpool area to have had friends there even who died or got injured. So if that UKIP tosser said such lies it's vile but if any other scouser says similar lies then it's kind of cool?
Personally i think it's just a stupid credibility thing. Hillsborough took on a huge importance in Liverpool. Whilst a disaster, atrocious corruption from the police and horrendous reporting bu the sun and others, it's not something to be used by anyone. I feel it has nothing to do with politics so why put it on his website?
It's a non-issue the level of his friendship with people who died at Hillsborough. What is wrong is the way it was viewed as a positive thing to put on his website in any form or wording, just to give him an edge in some way. That's his press officer's decision and she fell on her sword. Personally nuttal might have had nothing to do with that but I'd want to know what's being said in my name. I also worry that this is just a sign of how spin is so important to politics these days, possibly always so. Credibility and integrity is left out when you go into politics i feel. Big news that?!!!0 -

It says something about the football disaster that this gets more attention than the fact he quite conceivably lied on his application to stand as an MP, which can carry a criminal sentence.

Forget the low calibre of the individual, Farage, Nuttall, Trump - it's the resonance of their message they find with the voting public which is the most disheartening aspect.
Its easy to blame the messenger but the polarization of British politics has many triggers and it reverts back to the old adage, the people get the government they deserve.

He seems to have got away with the address thing but hopefully will get slaughtered come election time, however it seems that a percentage of the British electorate are willing to ignore anything in the search to legitimise their base level beliefs ......Postby team47b » Sun Jun 28, 2015 11:53 am

Funny how UKIP are going for Stoke but are not even supporting the Copeland UKIP candidate. Could that be something to do with tree Tories actually having a really good chance of taking Labour out in Copeland? Their candidate has been completely abandoned. Plus the Labour candidate won't speak to press and Corbyn is dropping in secretly because his presence isn't popular in an area where nuclear power is a vote winner.
Still i can see how Stoke is more important. Labour can hold on there, UKIP feels it has a decent chance to grow their vote and LibDems think they're on their way back from the political desert.0 -
Stoke=easy target. Loads of salt of the earth working types, or racist nutters. Whatever label you like. Stoke has loads of problems, and the biggest one is forriners. Sorted.

There are less than 500,000 people in Liverpool and 30,000ish would have been at Hillsborough. It would not surprise me if most people knew somebody who was there.0 -

The question that has always concerned / puzzled me is if the people of Liverpool are so vehement in their pursuit of justice why has some of this passion and energy never been channelled into demanding an inquest and justice for the people who died at Heysel?0

Isn't it time the UKIPs just effed off anyway? This goon ain't nothing compared to Nije.0

I listened to him on Radio 5 a couple of days ago. Nicky Campbell really gave him a grilling, to the point that it got rather embarrassing. However he is clearly in hot water over this. He claims to have 3 independent witnesses that can verify he was at Hillsborough disaster. As for his claims that he personally knew someone, he of course reiterated that it was an error statement on his website. However this statement has been on his website for a number of years and it has only just been spotted.
Would you want an MP to represent your constituency who clearly is not very attentive or diligent even when it comes to his own website? Not I.Always be yourself, unless you can be Aaron Rodgers....Then always be Aaron Rodgers.0 -

A very good article. So, to answer Frank's question, there was a widespread investigation and many parties shared in the blame (UEFA, police, fans) and were punished accordingly. No hint of a cover up, so no need to campaign for justice. All that remains is the ongoing grief of the families of the dead.0 -
Meanwhile Farage and Aaron Banks are doing their best to get rid of UKIP's only MP.
But at least they wil still have plenty of MEPs to give them legitimacy and earn a place on Question Time. Doh!0 -
