I have a SRAM x5 derailler, 10 SPD cassette with a rapid fire shifter. Want to move to a twist grip but can only see a SRAM x0 10 SPD twist shifter. Is this fully compatible with my x5 set up?

  • As far as i know yes. I put them with my x9 mech and really like them. By the way they come with inner cable attached which are good quality. Double check your brake fittment as it can be fiddly setting up for one finger use...at least it was with avid elixer.I would not go back to triggers the action is really precise. Finally believe it or not Halfords were cheapest I found.

The two are compatible yes, as both are Exact Actuation cable pull

That said I'd suggest looking for a decent used rear mech better than the X5 which is not one of SRAM's best offerings.

I have an X0 twist shifter on my commuter and really like it, less prone to damage in a crash as well!

As noted some brakes can be an issue with the 10 speed shifter as it's quite bulky, its a shame as the 9 speed is much more compact and creates little or no issue. getting Shimano brakes comfy can be an issue but formula work pretty well.
You can see the extra bulk by comparing the photos on this page, there is about an extra 5mm of body on the brake clamp side on the 10 speed.
