Pull the frikking thing out. I did. If he's a proper off roader, he'll be well 'ard and currently looking for a DIY shop for a pair of pliers.

Me went to the safari zoo me with toots and the wannabe Mrs P. Saw a snow Leopard and a 8 week old baby Rhino amongst other things. Then drove on the A592 to Windermere. It's a stunning place - now I know what all the fuss is about. Got some lovely shots coming over the infamous Kirkstone pass.

    Laters.

I might file the sharp edges down a bit.

Can't you bung a bit of chewing gum in the gap in between meals? Stop you looking silly at the sight seeing bus stop with your tongue in your cheek as you 'explore' the cavity?

    Travel insurance not cover it?
Don't know the cost of private dentistry in Italy but do UK.

Actually that's not a bad idea! Will buy some tomorrow morning.

Although the whole reason why I need to do that is its shredding my tongue if I'm not really careful. Found that out quite quickly...

It'll need a new crown or maybe an implant. They'd only be able to slap a temp cap on it over here in the time I have left. May as well get the whole thing done back home.

I had an upper rear molar that collapsed. Went to A and E with the same concern as you and it was dismissed with "Your tongue is pretty strong and flexible, don't worry about it. Go see your dentist."
"What if my platelet count is low?"
    Long silence...
"Err... why would they be low?"
    "Post allogenic BMT"

Let's say he reacted with a teensy bit more concern.

Some days lethargy has no international borders. Anyhow, as they are all in Europe, one is the same. Except if they are munters, in which case they can keep them.
