Newbie need input on a bike purchase!!

Looking to a buy a beginner bike, which will allow me in the future to modify.

I narrowed down to two options:


Kona Cinder Cone 1997


vs.

2003 kona hahaana

Plan to ride in gravel, trails, etc.
Any input would be appreciated.

    Most people can't remembered specs on 20 year old bikes, besides parts won't be original (hopefully) so links to the bikes you're looking at would help!

    Riding on gravel is a lot nicer than riding in it...... It chafes like mad.....or so a 'friend' tells me!
    Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
